The mute shortcut usually works even when the video app's window doesn't have focus (a "global" shortcut) — handy for quickly cutting the sound on unexpected noise.
A near-universal trick
On most tools, holding down the spacebar temporarily unmutes you for as long as you hold it ("push to talk") when muted — useful for a quick comment without leaving the mic open continuously.
Useful browser shortcuts during a call
Ctrl/⌘ + Scroll: zoom into shared content to see a detail more clearly.Esc: exit full screen without leaving the meeting.
